One of my favourites

This image illustrates my trademark attention to detail and the ultra-fine realism of my work with pencil.

I use pastel pencils, coloured pencils and graphite pencils to achieve these effects, and only use high quality paper.

Horses are my passion and I love drawing them. I can draw anything and am happy to discuss commissions/ drawings of any kind. I especially love that my memorial work will have pride of place in your home as remembrance of a loved one/companion.

About Rakel

Rakel is an Illustrator & Graphic Designer from beautiful East Auckland. She will happily work with you to achieve any of your Visual Arts needs. 

Rakel is internationally recognised for her Equestrian Custom Art pieces and she has spent a lifetime mastering this art of highly realistic pastel and coloured pencil portraits.

As well as her beautiful Equestrian works Rakel has many years of experience illustrating anything from portraits to family pets to children, couples, houses and everything in between.

And years in the industry and highly qualified as a graphic designer. Creating logos and business branding for new or existing businesss.

It would be her pleasure to work with you to create a bespoke and original piece in her uniquely detailed and refined style.

Get Started

1. To get started choose your custom art work size, and whether you would like pencil or full colour. Payment can be made here.

2. Then simply email me high resolution photos of what you would like drawn.

3. We will discuss by email how you would like your art work to look, timeline, and my schedule. I try my best to get the art completed in time for a special occasion. 

4. Once your Artwork is complete I will post to you packaged in a cardboard.

Pick up from East Auckland is available by arrangement.

She has done 2 beautiful portraits of friends horses who have passed away for me. Amazing detail and really captures the likeness and personality of the horses. Great to deal with, prompt replies and easy to deal with. 100% recommend!

I chose Rakel Illustration & Design to create a picture of one of our horses who had passed away, as a surprise birthday gift.

Rakel helped select the photo which would make the best drawing and did a brilliant and swift job. A bit too swift as the birthday the picture was for wasn't for another 6 months so it was a difficult wait for me before I could present the final framed picture!

We have another incredibly special horse who needs to have his picture done too and we will definitely be talking to Rakel and selecting the best photo to immortalise on his behalf.

Super Amazing Talent!! Rakel made a beautiful and life like portrait of a friends horse as a gift for a birthday. She completed it in a short time frame and I didn’t expect to met the deadline due to my lack of not giving her more notice.
